Rice 3 Delights

The rice three delights is arguably one of the most famous oriental dishes in the West. It consists of cooked rice, sautéed with different ingredients, among which Chinese fruits and tubers stand out, and soy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 300g long grain rice
  • 200 g of cooked peas
  • 200 g of cooked prawns
  • 3 eggs
  • 200 g of cooked ham in strips
  • 30 ml of soy sauce
  • 2 carrots cooked and diced
  • Coarse salt
  • Olive oil

Utensils

  • Wok or wide skillet
  • Bowl
  • Medium pots
  • Rice cooker or rice cooker
  • A cup
  • Soup spoon
  • Individual containers to reserve
  • Frying pan

Preparation

  • Wash the rice in one of the pots. Cover it with cold water, stir it until the water is white. Strain it. Repeat the process until the water is clear.
  • Measure the rice into cups and add one and a half cups of water to a saucepan over medium heat for each cup of rice.
  • When it comes to a boil, add the rice and a pinch of salt. Stir it and let it cook for about 15 minutes over medium heat.  When it absorbs the water, turn the heat to low.
  • Once cooked, let it cool.
  • Beat the eggs in a bowl with a pinch of salt.
  • Put a little oil in a frying pan and prepare a fairly thin French omelette. If the skillet is small, make two.
  • Add a splash of olive oil to a work,  and sauté the prawns over medium heat.
  • When the prawns are browned on both sides, add the carrot, ham and peas. Stir and let the flavors integrate.
  • Cut the tortilla into pieces and add it to the wok.
  • Put over medium heat and drizzle everything with the soy sauce.
  • Add the rice and stir everything very well.
  • Let it blend for five minutes, sautéing gently.
  • Remove from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes.

  • To prepare rice 3 delights you can use any kind of long grain rice of oriental origin, for example. basmati or jasmine. They are characterized by their delicious aroma. In addition, it will be looser.
  • You can buy the cooked ingredients, or cook them previously. It is advisable to cook them separately,  they will all be just right.
  • It can be the main dish, or as a garnish for other oriental dishes, such as pork or chicken dishes.
